Dyson V15 Detect Review: Main Features
Here, we take a look at all the major features that firmly place Dyson V15 Detect among the best cordless stick vacuums on the market. Most of the features are present in both Dyson V15 Detect and Detect+. However, where there is a difference we’ll let you know.
So, what should you expect from the latest Dyson cordless vacuums? Let’s see…
Powerful suction
The most critical aspect of a vacuum cleaner is how efficiently it gets the job done. And without enough suction, you may get very frustrated. Thankfully, constant innovation by Dyson over the years has resulted in some of the most powerful vacuums you can find.
Therefore, you should hold Dyson Detect vacuums to the same standards. And you won’t be disappointed. This version combines Dyson’s Hyperdymium motor and 14 concentric cyclones to produce enough suction to remove dirt, dust, debris, and other particles for carpet as well as hard floors.
Given that the vacuum is cordless, this is a huge plus because you can finish vacuuming before the battery is completely drained.

Automatic suction control
A few technologies come into play so that you can get the most out of Dyson V15 Detect. If the vacuum can regulate suction depending on how much dirt there is, the battery will not be drained quickly. So, you can vacuum for longer.
While Dynamic Load Sensing has been there (in the V11 series), new technology is in place to enhance automatic suction control. A piezo dust sensor counts the number of dust particles and also detects their sizes. Suction is increased if there are many dust particles or if they’re large.
Battery
Dyson V15 Detect comes with a strong 7-cell battery pack that is enough for regular vacuuming. On Eco mode (lowest power consumption), you can clean for up to 60 minutes. But if you need to vacuum for longer, you can purchase an extra battery.
If you are dealing with tough dirt using Boost mode, you can be sure that the runtime will be drastically reduced.
Cleaner heads (floor nozzles)
Both the V15 Detect and Detect+ come ready to handle carpet and bare floors. First, you get a High Torque cleaner head that sucks in deeply embedded dirt from carpets. Also, it picks up everything from hard floors.
So, you can be sure that all dust, dirt, and debris will be picked up. Also, pet and human hair is no match for the High Torque cleaner head. An anti-tangle comb also ensures that you will rarely have to pull out or cut hair from the brush.
The other floor attachment is called Laser Slim Fluffy. As the name suggests, it’s the one with a green laser. Unlike regular LED headlights, laser lets you see even the tiniest dust particles that are often left untouched.
Besides, the soft brushroll is specifically made for hard floors, so it will disappoint you if you try vacuuming the carpet. The slim design and amazing swivel allow you to get into narrow spaces with ease.
Filtration system
Just like most Dyson vacuums, Dyson V15 Detect uses a fully sealed advanced whole-machine filtration system. This way, particles as small as 0.3 microns remain inside the vacuum as you clean.
This is where we find the first major difference between the two vacuums. For the first time, we see Dyson incorporation a HEPA filter in the filtration setup. So, apart from having the usual whole-machine filtration, Dyson V15 Detect+ has a HEPA post-motor filter.
The bottom line is that you get excellent filtration with both vacuums. However, if you struggle with allergies or asthma, V15 Detect+ is the better pick.
Attachments
A vacuum without attachments will disappoint you when you want to vacuum above-floor surfaces. Thankfully, Dyson vacuums always have several tools for cleaning drapes, baseboards, shelves, seats, cushions, walls, ceilings, and so on.
This is where we see another difference between Dyson V15 Detect and Detect+. V15 Detect comes with a stubborn dirt brush, a hair screw tool, a crevice tool, a mini soft dusting brush, and a combination tool.
If you opt for Dyson V15 Detect+, you’ll get a stubborn dirt brush, a hair screw tool, a crevice tool, a mini soft dusting brush, a combination tool, and a dusting brush/crevice tool combo. Also, it comes with a low-reach adaptor that will help you get to the dirt hiding under low furniture.
Dirt disposal
At 0.2 Gallon in size, the dirt cup in the V15 vacuums is a bit bigger. So, you can vacuum for a longer period without having to pause. Besides, hygienic emptying ensures that you don’t touch the dirt. Simply point the canister into the trash can and push the dirt out.
Warranty
What tells you that a manufacturer believes in their product is the warranty. How long is it? What does it cover? Dyson offers a 2-year warranty on the V15 Detect cordless vacuums. Also, you get a 30-day money-back guarantee in case you aren’t satisfied with the performance.
